1. Information We Collect

TimeSnap is designed with your privacy in mind. We collect minimal data to provide you with the core functionality of the app.

• Photos: TimeSnap's primary function is to allow you to take and store photos. These photos are stored locally on your device by default. We do not automatically upload your photos to our servers unless you explicitly opt-in to a cloud backup feature (if and when implemented in a premium version).
• Daily Reminder Time: You set a daily time for photo reminders. This setting is stored locally on your device to enable the notification feature.
• Preferences: You may customize certain preferences within the app, such as notification settings or display options. These preferences are stored locally on your device.
• Analytics Data: We use anonymized analytics services (Mixpanel) to understand app usage and improve TimeSnap. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. It may include information about:
  • App usage patterns (e.g., feature usage, frequency of use)
  • Technical information (e.g., device type, operating system version, app version)
  • Crash reports and error logs

  We do not collect personally identifiable information through these analytics services. If we do collect analytics data, it is used to:

  • Improve the functionality and user experience of TimeSnap.
  • Understand how users interact with the app.
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues.
• Feedback You Send: If you send feedback from inside the app, we receive your message and, only if you choose to enter it, your email address. To help us understand and fix problems, the app sends these details with your message: app version, iOS version, device type (iPhone or iPad), language and time zone settings, days since you installed the app, your current streak, the number of days you have taken photos, and the app's random anonymous identifier. Feedback never includes your photos.
• Location Data (Optional and User-Controlled): In future versions, we may offer optional location tagging for photos. This feature would be entirely opt-in and require your explicit permission. If enabled, location data would be stored locally with your photos and potentially in cloud backups if you use that feature. You would have full control over enabling or disabling location tagging.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To Provide Core Functionality: We use the daily reminder time to send you notifications. We use local storage to save your photos and preferences, enabling the core features of TimeSnap.
• To Improve the App (Analytics): Aggregated and anonymized analytics data (if collected) helps us understand app usage patterns and identify areas for improvement.
• For Customer Support: If you contact us for support, we may use your communication and any information you provide to assist you.
• To Act on Feedback: We use feedback to fix bugs and improve TimeSnap. If you include your email address, we use it only to reply to you about your feedback, never for marketing.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

• No Sharing of Photos: We do not share your photos with any third parties unless you explicitly choose to use a sharing feature (if implemented in a future version) or if required by law. Your photos remain private to you on your device.
• Analytics Service Providers (Potentially): If we use analytics services, we may share anonymized and aggregated data with these providers to help us analyze app usage. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.
• Feedback Processing: Feedback is sent over an encrypted connection to a small server we run on Cloudflare, which stores it as an issue in Linear, the tool we use to track bugs and feature requests. Cloudflare processes your IP address to block abuse, and we do not keep it with your feedback. These providers process feedback only to deliver and store it for us.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency).

4. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information you store within TimeSnap on your device. However, please understand that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure.

• Local Storage: Your photos and personal data are primarily stored locally on your device, which provides a degree of inherent security as it is under your physical control.
• Data Encryption (Potentially): We may implement encryption for locally stored data in future updates to further enhance security.

5. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your information:

• Access and Control: You have direct access to all photos and data stored within the TimeSnap app on your device. You can view, modify, and delete this data at any time through the app's interface.
• Opt-out of Analytics (If Applicable): If we implement analytics data collection, we will provide you with options to opt-out of analytics tracking within the app settings.
• Deletion of Data: You can delete your photos and app data at any time by using the app's features or by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling the app may not delete all locally stored data; you may need to manually clear app data through your device's settings.
• Deleting Feedback: To have feedback you sent deleted, email us at [email protected] with the email address you used, or roughly when you sent it, and we will delete it.

6. Children's Privacy

TimeSnap is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete such information.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app or by other means.
